LLEP Annual General Meeting held at Charnwood Campus

The Leicester and Leicestershire Local Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) AGM has taken place at Charnwood Campus.

Items on the agenda this afternoon included Co-Chair Andy Reed OBE introducing a review of the annual report and Co-Chair Anil Majithia setting out the annual accounts for 2022-23.

Members also discussed ongoing transition ahead of Government seating the central funding of LEPs from April 2024. 

The positive impact of the Growth Hub and Careers Hub was discussed, as were projects funded through Business Rates Pooling, Getting Building Fund, Growing Places Fund and more.

Updates on Enterprise Zones, Create Growth, Net Zero, and Innovative Leicestershire were also on the agenda.

Co-chair Andy Reed OBE wrote in his introduction to the Annual Report 2022-23:

“As ever, what has been achieved could not have happened without the support of our Directors, Officers, and Stakeholders – past and present. 

“I thank them all for their contribution to delivering the mission of the LLEP – not just in 2022-23 but ever since 2011.”

Government has indicated that central funding for local enterprise partnerships (LEPs) nationwide will be withdrawn at the end of March 2024.

The Chancellor described during the Spring Budget his intention for LEP services to be delivered by local government from as early as April 2024.

The LLEP Board has previously agreed to form a transition group, chaired by CEO Phoebe Dawson, to work with key partners on transferring LLEP functions while building on gains made over the years.

Plans have already been made to maintain core functions through to March.
