A LLEP-funded programme of employment and skills initiatives in support of high tech businesses in the automotive sector will take place in November.
The free event is aimed at people working in the region’s automotive sector and is designed as a flagship method of supporting high technology employers. You can register now.
HORIBA MIRA and MIRA Technology Institute have organised the event with support from the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP) and Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council.
The programme will include presentations and break-out sessions on a number of key topics which impact high technology employment and skills.
Sessions on the agenda include:
- Skills provision in the region
- Maximising success in resourcing
- Talent development and leadership
- T-Levels
- Maximising use of the Apprenticeship Levy
- Resourcing and interview skills for managers.
As well as speakers from industry and research on employment and skills matters, the event will include break-out sessions on a number of key topics which impact high technology employment and skills.
There will also be an opportunity to meet regional suppliers and advisors on employment and skills matters.
The event takes place from 9.30am to 3.15pm on Tuesday 14 November 2023 at MTI on the HORIBA MIRA site near Hinckley.
MTI opened in 2018 to help create specialist skills in emerging technology areas in the automotive sector.
It has since staged a series of innovative new programmes, partnerships with industry, and school outreach activities which have helped to bring in more than 42,500 students and delegates.
Engineers and technicians of the future have learned about sector specialisms including electrification, connected and autonomous vehicles, functional safety, and cybersecurity.
And more than 3,000 have studied for accredited qualifications, ranging from a Level 1 Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI) certificate up to Masters’ degrees.
MTI has also supported more than 850 apprenticeships, across all levels, with more than 17,000 automotive professionals have taking part in professional development activities.
