Around 28,000 copies of the latest World of Work Leicestershire have been handed out to young people, their parents, and educators.
The guide is a free 36- page summary of the local world of work across Leicester and Leicestershire which offers insight into the local labour market.
Anna Cyhan, Skills Officer at Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Partnership (LLEP), collates the guide each year, as part of the ongoing Economic Growth Strategy.
Anna said:
“The World of Work guide is just one of the ways we highlight the multitude of opportunities on offer within the local economy. We are keen to raise awareness of the array of local industries and employers across the area, to help young people with informed career decisions.”
The guide features a range of information, including:
- Details on 18 different sectors across Leicester and Leicestershire
- Area Enterprise Zones
- How the world of work is changing
- Skills that employers value
- Working for SMEs
- Starting a business
- Links to find out more about getting into careers and work
- Options at 16 years old
Organisations which support young people into jobs, apprenticeships, or other opportunities – including the LLEP Careers Hub – are offered the guide to demonstrate what careers are available locally, and what skills are needed across different sectors.
There are also resources available to aid organisations in using the guide, such as the Five Ways to use the World of Work Leicestershire guide resource.
