Inspiring and preparing young people for a career in digital and tech
The Leicester and Leicestershire Careers Hub is working with a collection of the region’s Further Education institutions to provide meaningful encounters and insight into this fast-growing sector, supporting skilled young people to make positive first steps into their careers.
Skills England have reported the Digital sector is hampered by a skills gap, with 81% of hard to fill vacancies being down to skills shortages in the £158bn sector. Less than a third of UK businesses are confident they can access the digital skills they need over the next 3-5 years.
What’s happening?
- Digital Speed Trials – short, sharp experiences of the workplace designed to be delivered by employers of all sizes
- ATE Bootcamps – Intensive mentoring and support for young people interested in an apprenticeship or technical education route
- Mentoring – ad hoc groups are being built all the time to pass on specialist knowledge to the future workforce
- Information session for staff and parents – Fostering better conversations about the world of work through upskilling young people’s support networks.
How do I get involved?
