Young people on a fast track to learn more about logistics careers
The Leicester and Leicestershire Careers Hub proudly launched the first pilot Logistics Beacon Hub in partnership with Generation Logistics, alongside their key sponsors such as the Hub's regional logistics partners. Together, we've been shining a spotlight on the diverse careers and opportunities within the logistics industry for young people across Leicester and Leicestershire
Following the success of our pilot programme, the Logistics Beacon s back for another year, expanding its reach to support 12 schools across the city and county.
We are now inviting logistics companies to join the Logistics Beacon project to make a meaningful impact on hundreds of young people, while also nurturing the future talent pipeline for the logistics sector.
Through the Logistics Beacon we will deliver a range of industry-led activities designed to challenge misconceptions, develop essential skills and behaviours, and strengthen the connection between education and business – boosting our local economy in the process.
Here’s what we’re doing:
- Collaborating with 12 schools across the city and county to deliver our innovative modern work experience programme
- Engaging with 93 schools and colleges throughout the region to share key labour market insights
- Partnering with Generation Logistics, their sponsors, and leading industry organisations
How can you help?
- Deliver engaging experiences of the workplace to young people with the support of the Careers Hub
- Work with a school to raise awareness among parents and carers about career opportunities in logistics
- Partner with Generation Logistics and its sponsors to amplify our collective impact
- Support teacher training to embed logistics careers into the curriculum

Evidence collected during last year's programme showed that 76% of students increased their understanding of the logistics industry, with 32% expressing a stronger interest in pursuing a careers in this dynamic field.
