Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Zone Economic Impact Assessment
An economic impact assessment of the Leicester and Leicestershire Enterprise Zones (EZs) was undertaken in 2024. The assessment covers the first 10 years of the MIRA Technology Park EZ and the first 5 years of the Loughborough and Leicester Science and Innovation EZ.
The assessment provides a point in time evaluation of our 25-year Enterprise Zone programme, evaluating each sites contribution to the region. It highlights how public – private sector collaborations, driven by a focus on high value industries, have significantly boosted the local economy. Not only have these sites fostered job creation, attracted business, and generated investment they have played a pivotal role in advancing our regions net zero and skills development agendas.
Our Enterprise Zones have collectively:
Created 6,107 jobs (direct and indirect);
Created 2,456 construction jobs;
Created £357.3m GVA (direct and indirect);
Attracted £163.8m public investment;
Attracted £141.8m private investment.
