Businesses and residents are being invited to respond to an interim report into Leicester’s Cultural and Creative Industries.
Leicester City Council and partners De Montfort University, University of Leicester, and Arts Council England, appointed consultant, The Fifth Sector, to help develop and shape a strategy for the city’s cultural sector.
Its purpose is to help the city raise its collective ambition, create a compelling vision for what it can become, and guide priorities for the next five years.
The Fifth Sector’s Interim Summary Report includes recommendations made to date, as well as latest analysis of the sector.
The report will be further developed once the consultation is complete.
The interim report includes research findings and outlines a vision, model and priorities for the strategy.
The consultation seeks comment on the draft vision, the proposed strategic objectives, actions and measures of success.
It also includes ideas about a new strategic and delivery partnership via a new cultural compact with the working title Creative Leicester.
Elsewhere, ideas to improve the city’s cultural offering include exploring the possibility of expanding Curve, and upgrading big event infrastructure, including in city parks.
In compiling the report, consultants mapped the existing sector, convened key players from the local scene, and considered best practice from other cities.
The online consultation will remain open until September 10 and can be completed through the link below.
All responses can be submitted anonymously, but there will also be the opportunity to provide contact details at the end for respondents who wish to discuss potential strategy recommendations in more detail.
